Terms of Service

ClipPod is operated as a solo project. These terms are written in plain language on purpose — if anything here is unclear, email support@clippod.app before you rely on it.

1. What ClipPod does

You upload a source video (a podcast episode — or any stream or talk), or paste a link to one. ClipPod transcribes it, proposes short vertical clips from the transcript, lets you steer the selection in plain language, and renders the clips you choose with captions burned in. Every plan comes with a monthly usage allowance, shown in the app as one bar; importing a video, finding more clips, rendering a clip, re-burning captions in a new look and refining a clip with AI each use part of it, and the app shows the share an action uses before you confirm it. Nothing is rendered unless you ask for it, and previews, picking, trimming, caption changes before a clip is finished, sharing and downloads are not charged.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use ClipPod, created with an email and password or a Google sign-in. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. One person or organization per account — don't share logins.

3. Plans, usage and billing

ClipPod offers a free plan and monthly subscription plans (Starter and Creator). Each plan comes with a monthly usage allowance, shown in the app as a bar. Each action that uses it — importing a video, finding more clips, rendering a clip, re-burning captions in a new look, refining a clip with AI — uses an amount set by ClipPod's rate card, mostly sized by the length of the source or of the clip. An action is paid in full from your plan's allowance if that covers it, otherwise in full from a pack, and is otherwise refused; it is never split between the two. The allowance is a prepaid right to use the service, not currency, not a stored-value account, and has no cash value. Your plan's allowance refills to its full amount at every renewal — on the free plan, at the start of each calendar month (UTC) — and what you didn't use does not carry over, including when you first subscribe. A pack is $9 one-time and adds an extra part to your bar. It never expires, is used only when your plan can't cover a whole action, and survives a renewal, a lapse and a cancellation. The free plan is one per person: one free allowance per email address, where addresses that differ only by a +tag, or for Gmail only by dots, count as one address, and an address whose account was deleted does not receive a free allowance again. If your subscription lapses — canceled and its paid period ends, or a payment fails and isn't recovered — the remaining plan allowance is voided and packs are kept; resubscribing within 30 days restores access to your existing library. Anything that fails on ClipPod's side gives back what it used automatically, unless your plan refills or ends while it's being made. Retrying never costs more than the first try. An import that turns out, once processing has started, to have no speech or to be in a language ClipPod can't transcribe, or a search for more clips that finds nothing new, is given back from a monthly give-back allowance of 20% of your plan plus 20% of the packs bought that cycle, which reports of unusable clips (§5) share; beyond it, what was used stands. Plans, packs and unused allowance are non-refundable except where a law that applies to you requires it. Subscription payments, receipts, and payment method storage are handled by Polar, acting as merchant of record; ClipPod never sees or stores your card details, and payment disputes or chargebacks go through Polar's process, not ClipPod's.

The rate card — how much of the allowance each action uses, and how much each plan holds — may change. A change that makes an action use less, or a plan hold more, can take effect at any time. A change that makes an action use more, or a plan hold less, comes with a new version of the rate card and, for a subscriber, applies from their next renewal. The share an action uses, shown as a percentage before you confirm, is the one that applies; the clip estimates in the app are an approximation for a typical episode, not a promise of a number of clips. As the AI models and compute we use get cheaper, we expect your plan to go further. When a step costs us less, it uses less of your bar.

4. Acceptable use

You keep ownership of whatever you upload. In return, you confirm you have the rights to upload it and to have it transcribed and re-rendered into clips — your own recordings, licensed content, or anything else you're legally entitled to process this way. Don't upload anything you don't have the rights to, anything illegal, or anything intended to harass, defraud, or impersonate someone without their consent. Don't try to abuse the free plan or the usage allowance (for example, signing up repeatedly or with address variations to collect free allowances) or attack the service. Accounts used this way can be suspended or terminated without a refund of unused allowance or packs. To keep the service usable for everyone, ClipPod limits how much an account stores at once (when an account reaches that limit, new imports and renders are refused until older files expire or are deleted), and after 5 imports in 24 hours that fail because of the file itself (for example, too long, not public, or no audio), new imports are refused until the oldest of those failures is a day old.

5. Retention and deletion

Your clips are the product; the source video is working material. On every plan, a source video and its transcript are deleted 48 hours after the last activity on that video, and in any case 14 days after it was added — your rendered clips stay downloadable after that, on their own clock below. In the last 48 hours before that 14-day limit, actions that need the source and use your allowance (starting or retrying an import, finding more clips, refining a clip) are refused, and nothing is charged for them. Suggestions you haven't rendered are deleted with the source, and mining the same episode again means re-uploading it. "Activity" means downloading or editing a clip, steering a re-run, or similar. Opening an episode that still has unrendered suggestions counts too; otherwise just visiting the page doesn't reset the clock. Clips on an account that has never subscribed are deleted after 14 days without activity (you'll get a warning email around day 7). While you're subscribed, a clip is kept for 90 days after the last activity on it, and you'll get a warning email about a week before one is deleted. If your subscription ends — canceled and the paid period runs out, or a payment fails and isn't recovered — you have 30 days to resubscribe with your clip library intact; after that, your clip library is deleted (you'll get a warning email a week before). Deleting a video yourself removes its file, transcript, and clips immediately, on any plan. Deleting your account (from Settings) removes all of the above across every video, plus your usage history and account record — this is immediate and can't be undone, so make sure you've downloaded anything you want to keep first. The few records that outlive an account, and why, are listed in the Privacy Policy.

One exception, and it only happens when you ask for it: if you report a clip as unusable, we give back what rendering it used (within the give-back allowance in §3) and remove it from your library, and we keep that clip so we can work out what went wrong and fix it. The dialog says so before you confirm. We use it to improve how ClipPod frames, cuts and captions video, and nothing else — it is never published, shared, or used to identify anyone. Deleting your account removes reported clips along with everything else.

6. Service availability

ClipPod is provided as-is, without uptime guarantees. Processing depends on third-party infrastructure (Cloudflare, Modal, OpenRouter) that occasionally has outages outside ClipPod's control. When processing fails on ClipPod's side, what it used is given back automatically, unless your plan refills or ends while it is being made (§3). Failed analysis jobs are retried automatically; a render that cannot complete is not retried for you, so you can start it again yourself whenever you like, at no extra cost.

7. Liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, ClipPod is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and ClipPod's total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid ClipPod in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited under the law that applies to you.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Croatia and applicable European Union law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you use ClipPod as a consumer in the EU, this doesn't take away protections you're entitled to under the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence.

9. Changes

These terms may change as ClipPod does. Material changes are reflected by updating the date at the top of this page; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. Changes to the rate card follow the last paragraph of §3.
